MDPI and Frontiers are built-in, independently deactivable, and highlighted by default. Each publisher can instead use context-only, badge, dim, hide, or a custom color.

Notandia adds configurable publisher context and formal post-publication signals to scholarly literature. It exposes evidence, user-selected treatment, chronology, provenance, and coverage instead of assigning an opaque quality score.
Release status: the configurable Notandia interface is implemented and verified in the current source, but the Chrome and Edge stores still provide the earlier MDPI Filter release until manual browser, upgrade, and store validation is complete.

Publisher identity, user preference, and formal integrity remain separate.
Formal article events
DOI checks expose retractions, concerns, corrections, reinstatements, withdrawals, removals, and duplicate-publication findings with provenance and chronology.
Custom publishers
Users can add validated profiles using publisher domains and DOI prefixes. Profiles are declarative data and cannot contain executable scripts or page selectors.
Publisher context
A watchlist is a personal display rule, not a universal verdict.
Notandia identifies evidence that an article, reference, or search result belongs to a configured publisher. The user decides whether to show context, add a badge, highlight, dim, hide, or disable that publisher entirely.
Interpretation: a publisher match does not mean that every article from that publisher is unreliable. Publisher identity and formal work-level events are displayed independently.
Work-level taxonomy
Color supports the meaning; it never replaces the label.
A correction is not a retraction, and a reinstatement changes the current state without erasing the historical timeline.
Retracted
A formal retraction affects the work.
Expression of concern
Serious concerns are formally recorded but remain unresolved.
Corrected
A correction, corrigendum, or erratum should be consulted.
Reinstated
A prior retraction was reversed; the history remains visible.
Duplicate-publication finding
Substantial overlap or duplication is documented as a finding or reason.
Withdrawn or removed
A version was withdrawn or removed from publication.

Coverage is visible
Checked, unresolved, failed, and deferred identifiers are reported instead of silently treated as clear.
Control is local
Publisher profiles and actions are stored and evaluated in the browser. Network-assisted DOI checks remain independently optional.
