Research warnings should explain themselves.

MDPI Filter currently helps researchers identify and navigate MDPI publications and citations. The project is evolving toward a broader evidence-backed integrity layer that distinguishes formal article events from contextual journal or publisher concerns.

Release boundary: Chrome and Edge store versions are currently MDPI-focused. Broader integrity signals and Safari/Firefox support are active development work, not yet public store features.

Roadmap

Safari, Firefox, and shared evidence

One canonical browser source is planned for Chrome, Edge, Firefox desktop/Android, and Safari on macOS, iOS, and iPadOS.

Proposed work-level taxonomy

Color supports the meaning; it never replaces the label.

Formal publication events require different semantics. A correction is not a retraction, and a reinstatement changes the current state without erasing the historical timeline.

Retracted

A formal retraction affects the work.

Expression of concern

Serious concerns are formally recorded but remain unresolved.

Corrected

A correction, corrigendum, or erratum should be consulted.

Reinstated

A prior retraction was reversed; the history remains visible.

Duplicate-publication finding

Substantial overlap or duplication is documented as a finding or reason.

Withdrawn or removed

A version was withdrawn or removed from publication.

Evidence before verdicts.

Scope is explicit

Article events, journal context, publisher context, and identity warnings remain separate.

Coverage is visible

Checked, unresolved, failed, and deferred identifiers are reported instead of silently treated as clean.

Provenance is inspectable

Warnings should expose source, identifier, event chronology, retrieval date, and applicable exceptions.
